Add the Zendesk ScreenSteps Live Search widget

This lesson will show you how to add and configure the ScreenSteps Live search widget in Zendesk. This widget will let you search your ScreenSteps Live lessons right from within Zendesk and copy urls to those lessons right into open tickets.

Select Extensions

Select_extensions_display

Login to your Zendesk account and select Settings > Extensions.

Select Add widget

Select_add_widget_display Zoom

Add ScreenSteps Live Widget

Add_screensteps_live_widget_display

Scroll down the page and add the ScreenSteps Live widget.

Title and Availability

Title_and_availability_display

1. The title can be whatever you would like.
2. You can choose who can see the widget by setting the Available for.

Account and Login Information

Account_and_login_information_display Zoom

Enter you account and login information.

IMPORTANT: Don't use an administrative username and password here. Setup an API Access user account on ScreenSteps Live and enter their information here.

SSL, Space ID and Including Login Credentials

Ssl__space_id_and_including_login_credentials_display Zoom

1. Use SSL - You can require that Zendesk use SSL to contact your account by checking this box. IMPORTANT - You must have enabled SSL on your space in ScreenSteps Live.

2. Space ID - This is the space that will be searched on ScreenSteps Live. Enter your permalink or space id here. See how to get your space id.

3. Include Login in URL - If you are searching lessons from a space that is protected then your users will need to login to ScreenSteps Live before they can see the lessons that you send to them. By checking this box then you can embed the login parameters used for the widget in the urls that you send out.

This can be useful if you are just passing the urls around to internal users or if you want your customers to be able to access the the lessons you send to them, but don't want the public to be able to see them.

BE CAREFUL WITH THIS OPTION

This is another reason you should use an API Access user when you set up this widget. If you check this option the username and password you enter above will be embedded in the URLs that are returned by the widget.

Create Widget

Create_widget_display

Select Create Widget and then Submit. As of this writing, previewing the widget doesn't seem to be working. But creating the widget does work.
