ScreenSteps Workgroup works with PostgreSQL 8.4 and above or Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and above. We have full installation instructions for PostgreSQL which is a free database server. We also have instructions for working with a Microsoft SQL Server installation.  If you don't have SQL Server licenses already or need to support multi-byte languages such as Japanese then we recommend using PostgreSQL.
